We
don't call it a waiting room because we hope that you
will not have to wait long, unless you arrive ahead
of schedule. You can always have a cup of tea or coffee
while you have a read.

For
removal of early decay, old tooth coloured ("white")
fillings and deep stains this is one of the quietest
and most painless ways of being treated. A stream of
very fine abrasive, as fine as flour, is jetted at the
tooth. Usually you will feel no more than a cold tingle,
and injections are often not neccessary. It can not
be used to remove old silver fillings.

Using
this diagnostic laser it is possible to distinguish
much more easily between decay and stain. Findings are
always consistent and decay can be detected early, making
it easy to treat with the air abrasion machine.

This
enables the dentist to see difficult areas at high magnification
and also to show you what your teeth look like from
the inside. When describing problems a picture can truly
be worth a thousand words. It can also help our patients
better understand their condition, especially those
in hard to reach places! The pictures are shown on a
computer screen and can be printed.

Sometimes
incorrectly called an OPG machine. The letters stand
for "Ortho Pan Tomograph" which is
a combination of Greek words which signify the ability
to scan the curved jaws and teeth on to a flat film
or image. The images are an essential part of diagnosis
as it is possible to see all the relevant structures
supporting the teeth as a whole.

Stoneleigh
House Dental Practice has one of the latest pieces of
equipment for treatment in the mouth. With the dental
laser we can remove decay almost silently, and prepare
the cavities in a way which results in less tooth being
wasted. We can also re-contour gum tissue and remove
unwanted soft tissue. When this is done with the laser
there is little or no bleeding and the recovery is very
rapid with less discomfort.
